CATARACT SURGERY

WHAT IS A CATARACT?

A cataract is the progressive aging of the natural lens (crystalline lens) inside the eye. This lens is located behind the iris and functions like a camera lens by focusing the images projected by light onto the retina, which then sends the images to the brain. The human lens can become so cloudy that it can prevent light and images from reaching the retina.

HOW IS CATARACT TREATED?

The most effective treatment is surgery. It’s an outpatient procedure, quick and safe, that removes the opacity of the lens and replaces it with an artificial intraocular lens.
What to expect after surgery? In most cases, the recovery is fast. In no time, you’ll notice a significant improvement in your vision, perceiving colors more vividly and details with greater clarity.
